Goethe-Institut Washington: A New World Begins Here.
Language broadens horizons – no matter where. Since 1999, Goethe-Institut Washington has opened new professional and personal vistas to over 5,000 people in its German language courses. Stepping into the Goethe-Institut, you encounter more than just the German language. You meet Germany. Welcome to the Goethe-Institut Washington.
A common language makes intercultural exchange possible without barriers, and this is exactly the benchmark of the Goethe-Institut. As the official cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, we are more than just a language school. A comprehensive cultural program and access to our extensive resources bring the German language, culture and society to life worldwide.
Learning German with the Goethe-Institut does not just mean a barrage of vocabulary and grammar, but a gateway to literature, music, film, current events and culinary delights from Germany. Where else could you run into well-known personalities like filmmaker Fatih Akin or author Günter Grass?
Through our work, we initiate dialogue with partners. For over six decades we have offered, within our network and through cooperative partnerships, language and cultural programs with a sharp focus on quality - with passion and with enduring success.
